Police Department
Being given their authority by N.J.S.A. Title 40, Municipal Code, and under the Supervision of the Department of Law and Public Safety, the Police Department performs all appropriate functions in respect to law enforcement and preservation of order, while providing the highest degree of dedication to public safety and quality of service. The dedication of the Police Department is built upon its unswerving values of honor, professionalism, commitment, compassion, reliability, and accountability. The Edgewater Park Twp. Police Department Officers serve with integrity and dedication to preserve life, enforce law, and to partner with the Community to enhance the "Quality of Life" in our Township. The Police Department's Duties include:
- Enforcing Laws and Local Ordinances.
- Protection of Life and Property.
- Motor Vehicle Accident Investigation and Reporting.
- Assisting the Sick and Injured by providing First Aid.
- Conducting Criminal Investigations.
- Providing information to citizen and senior groups concerning crime and fraud prevention.
- Creation and implementation of School Safety and Security initiatives and providing Drug Awareness and Violence Resistance Education instruction to students.
- Providing assistance to victims of Domestic Violence, creating and maintaining a "Domestic Violence Response Team" to speak with and offer assistance to victims of Domestic Violence, and to criminally charge Domestic Violence offenders.
- Enforcing all Traffic Laws and Ordinances.
- Preparing and maintaining an Emergency Disaster Plan for the Township and coordinate, when necessary, with other Emergency Service Agencies
